ON THE UP'N'UP WITH OUR 'FIXER' UPPER

When we bought our first home together, buying brand new and upgraded was simply not an option. Me, being the 'oh that will be easy, just let me Pinterest it' type led us to believe buying a fixer upper would be our best bet. Although we have no doubt that all of our 'sweat equity' will be worth it in the end, it has proven to be a lot harder and taken a lot longer than we anticipated. Also, considering that our son was 9 months old when we bought this house has made finding the time to work on the place a wee bit challenging. Our home is nearly 60 years old and although it had been "updated" about two years ago, the updates that were done were definitely not up to date with the current styles. Although the house needed a lot of cosmetic work, the house had good bones, a great yard, and lots of potential. Also, considering that we were young parents and first time home owners, we didn't have a huge budget (being a stay at home mom and wife of a firefighter doesn't allow us much wiggle room). We had been saving up for almost a year and a half when we bought this place and decided to invest about $5,000 of our savings right up front in order to buy the paint, flooring, tools, and all brand new stainless steel kitchen appliances. It was a little scary spending all that money in less than a month, but I'd say its been totally worth it. This house feels completely different! We do still have a lot of things to save up for, eventually we will be doing a complete kitchen remodel and completely gutting two of our bathrooms, but for now we're working on completing phase one of our home remodel. Soon, I will posting pictures of our kitchen, half bath, laundry room and main living and dinning room, so check back soon for those before and afters! Also, you can follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
Thank y'all for joining us on our crazy adventure and I hope to have more things for y'all soon!
